Many of you may already know that there is a multi million Learning and Skills Council (LSC) (Now called the SFA—Skills Financial Agency) funded programme to achieve effective investment and deployment of skills within the workforce and to address national and regional market failures.

• This funded programme is anticipated to support circa 60,000 businesses over the three years nationally and circa 9,200 businesses regionally over the three years.
• Following discussions with Business Link North West (who have been awarded the contract to deliver the NW programme) GW Resources would like to discuss leadership/ management training with you to see if you are eligible for a grant.

Question – Is my organisation eligible to access this grant and if so what is on offer?

The Offer

The Leadership and Management grant offer was put in place to develop the skills of senior leaders/key decision makers within businesses to help them grow both professionally and personally within their sectors and the economy.

The original grant offer has now been reviewed, and the Learning and Skills Council and Northwest Regional Development Agency have now confirmed details of the grant for the final year - 2010/2011 (subject to availability).

The offer is:

For companies employing between 5 - 249 UK Full Time Equivalent employees, the funding is available for 3 Senior Leaders, up to a maximum of £3,000 (dependent on previous applications)

For companies employing between 250 - 999 UK Full Time Equivalent employees, the funding is available for 2 Senior Leaders, up to a maximum of £2000 (dependent on previous applications)

The funding may require a financial contribution from the employer. For example, for a manager to receive the maximum £1,000 grant, the employer must contribute £500 towards the total of a £1,500 training cost.

Funding will be worked out on an individual company basis.

The Senior Leaders must be based and work in the North West and have not previously accessed any LSC Leadership and Management funding.

The funding can not be used for Statutory/Mandatory or technical training, membership fees, travel, equipment, accommodation, VAT or any ESF funded activities.  No individual Leader can receive more than £1,000 of grant support.  It is aimed at leaders/senior managers/key decision makers - supervisors and team leaders would not normally qualify for the LMAS funding.
