EQUALITY CHALLENGE - £595 (excl. VAT)

What is Equal Opportunities? What are my rights? What are my responsibilities? Why does it matter? Our equal opportunities 'primer' poses many thought-provoking questions.

The answers? Well that's up to users (though the Equality Challenge manual helps them find their way).

The package is based on specially shot drama scenes and is for managers and everyone else at work. It deals with relationships with colleagues, staff, customers and suppliers. There are 25 minutes of video and 32 questions for discussion, or for written responses in the Equality Challenge Workbook.

FIND YOUR VOICE - £795 (excl. VAT)

If you are new to the business of managing people at work, perhaps as the owner or manager of a small business, or someone who has acquired a ‘team’ to look after for the first time, there are certain essentials you need to know.

Angel Productions’ new ‘toolkit’ for people managers is an essential resource for anybody in charge of a team for the first time (and useful for many with more experience too). Available on video and DVD, it shows all the main skills and processes involved, from managing performance to dealing with grievances, and can help take the anxiety out of managing people.

THE DIFFERENCE - £795 (excl. VAT)

Is ‘Managing Diversity’ anything more than a fancy new name for Equal Opportunities? THE DIFFERENCE shows how a strategy which recognises people’s diversity can release potential, enhance staff motivation, improve performance and deliver better service to customers. Now also available on DVD with menu-access to each section, and English subtitles which can be switched on if needed.

Video 1: What the Photocopier saw

48 minutes of powerful and entertaining drama scenes showing the costs and benefits of managing a diverse team badly or well. The action revolves around the office photocopier, a silent witness to countless everyday incidents revealing how the business suffers when team members fail to treat each other with respect. This is a subtle training video and there is little spoonfeeding - because Diversity is a subtle and complex subject. Users who want clear guidance about training points will find it in the accompanying Training Manual. This is also a more versatile training video than most - the scenes could contribute to training in a number of other areas, including communication skills, team working and supervisory skills.

Video 2: Real people: different people

Six people talk about the prejudices and stereotypes they encounter at work because of their personal characteristics: their age, gender, race, sexuality, disability or parental responsibilities. Each has their own way of dealing with other people’s attitudes towards them. For some, prejudice causes extra pressure to achieve. Some are less able to work effectively because of the attitudes they meet. In this 24 minute programme, we also hear about the positive benefits each of the six brings to work by being ‘different’.

Training Manual

The videos / DVD come with a comprehensive Training Manual, in print or on CD-ROM, structured to support use by trainers or individual learners. Includes a detailed supplement about the legal framework for diversity and equal opportunities.

PEST CONTROL - £1200 (excl. VAT)

Most harassment can and should be nipped in the bud: prevention is better than punishing harassers. Everyone in the workplace has a role in preventing harassment and responding to it if it occurs, so there is something in the PEST CONTROL package for everyone. Organisations of all types need to accept that harassment occurs, learn to recognise it and deal with it.

Dealing with sexual, racial and all other forms of harassment, PEST CONTROL is the most comprehensive video package on its subject, and is full of clear, practical steps for dealing with harassment.

The six videos are available as a set or individually. Each video is accompanied by ready-to-copy handouts. The Resource Pack containing all the handouts, guidance for trainers and OHP slides (or PowerPoint presentation) is supplied free of charge with any order for two or more PEST CONTROL videos.

BEST OF THE BUNCH - £595 (excl. VAT)

Fairness and effectiveness can, and should, go hand in hand. A systematic, criterion-based approach ensures effective selection and equality of opportunity for all candidates.

Produced with advice from the Commission for Racial Equality, the Equal Opportunities Commission, the Industrial Society and the Institute of Personnel and Development, Best of the Bunch is an essential training tool, whether for recruiting new staff or selecting existing staff for retraining or redeployment. Suitable for individual study as well as group training. The videos combine entertaining drama and factual material.

Video 1: Sense of Humour Essential (30 mins)

Introducing the principles of systematic recruitment. Through a mixture of drama and factual case studies it describes each stage of the process: setting selection criteria, attracting applicants, shortlisting, the interview, selection, and monitoring the performance of the successful candidate. The programme can be run continuously or used in sections.

Video 2: Worst After Lunch (30 mins)

Starting with some cautionary and entertaining examples of what not to do, this programme shows employers how to get the best results out of the selection interview. Through a combination of drama and expert advice, it sets out a structured, criterion-based approach to interviewing, designed to get the best person into the job and treat all the candidates fairly. The programme goes on to show how other selection methods can be combined in an assessment centre.
